Guide to Training

The Cambridge College of Hypnotherapy can train you to become an effective and ethical hypnotherapist with experienced tutors. There are many differing approaches to hypnotherapy training (e.g. analytical, Ericksonian, goal-orientated NLP, Guided Affective Imagery, suggestion therapy, etc.) and a basic introduction to most of the approaches will be covered in the course, whilst some will be dealt with in much more depth enabling the successful graduate to have a full understanding of these differing techniques and work within their preferred approach. The predominant perspectives will be Ericksonian and Analytical.

The course will contain practical demonstrations, "hands-on" learning plus a full background of theoretical knowledge. This will include how to set up and run your practice on completion of your training. Small, working groups will enable all students to gain the most knowledge and excellent supervision for each individual. What is required from the student is an open and enquiring mind. Academic qualifications are not a pre-requisite but a commitment to learning is. What is needed is a willingness to learn allied with a genuine liking for the people, with whom you will be working with in partnership, using a positive therapeutic alliance. The training course would also be suitable for those people who wish to have a purely academic interest in the processes of hypnosis and hypnotherapy.

For those people who can fulfil the entry and training criteria and route for UKCP may be eligible to apply for the UKCP pathway with a sister organisation to become UKCP Registrants. The Course has also been examined for its professionalism, ethics and content by The National Council for Hypnotherapy, The Hypnotherapy Society, The Hypnotherapy Association, National Register of Advanced Hypnotherapists The Hypnotherapy Society and by the Association of Professional Hypnotherapists and Psychotherapists. These professional associations have approved and accredited this course fully. These professional associations are independent of the course and (with the exception of UKCP) may be joined on successful graduation, without further examination. Some of these organisations also offer free student membership whilst you are undergoing training.

Successful completion of an optional referenced portfolio during the course may lead to a Diploma awarded by the ncfe. This is in addition to the Diploma awarded by National School of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy. This course may also be your first step towards attaining UKCP Registration (by following further education with either this college or another suitable establishment).

The Diploma course will be delivered by CCH(Cambridge College of Hypnotherapy) which was established in 2000. Currently there is a choice of two venues; Cambridge and Hampshire.  The Advanced Diploma is available to CCH graduates and other suitably qualified therapists.  The Advanced Diploma is a series of essays and reading in a home study environment.

Both during, and on successful completion of the course, each student will be entitled to, and encouraged to contact the School/ College for advice and on-going support throughout their career.

Continuing Professional Development workshops as well as talks can also be arranged for groups of therapists or interested parties. Please contact Cambridge College of Hypnotherapy with your requirements.
